YOUR Journey BEGINS HERE

Step Into Your Healing Here

Your Courage, Our Expertise

Do you feel stuck in your life, exhausted, apprehensive, or unfulfilled? Maybe you feel unable to move forward from your past or frustrated in your day to day? Would you like to create stability, confidence, and compassion for yourself? Counselling can help you overcome life’s challenges and feel content & present in life.
At Cascade Counselling, we endeavour to create a space where clients can show up as they are and access compassion, empathy, resources, and treatment unique to them. Counselling is a fluid process of working within a person’s lived experiences and towards goals that bring meaning to their life. Counselling is a strength-based practice, focused on integration of the past and present, as we work towards a brighter future.
Counselling is for all people, from all walks of life – any culture, sexual and gender identity, age, and religion. At Cascade Counselling, culturally attuned therapy is the epicenter of our work. You don’t have to worry or shy away from your culture, values, or beliefs. It’s an important part of what makes you you, and without which we cannot achieve true healing.

How We can help

Approaches

The Right Approaches for Your Needs

Counselling is a conversation between the counsellor and you about your needs. What are you experiencing? How do you feel day to day? What would you like to change? From there we make a plan and identify how you would like to feel instead, agreeing on how we would like to get there. Do you have a preference on techniques or what you’d like to focus on in session?

Some common approaches used in session are the following:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

A therapy aimed at shifting how you think and respond to the specific situation you are in. We focus on identifying thoughts and belief patterns that are unhelpful and responses or behaviours that do not align with your goals. This approach focuses on handouts and homework to create identifiable change.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

A structured therapy proven to decrease the degree of overwhelm associated with stressful and traumatic experiences. This approach helps us shift in how we see ourselves, our strengths and capabilities. It can be used for smaller (but sometimes more repetitive) traumas or major (and sometimes single event) traumas, such as car accidents or experiences of crimes.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being present, noticing and observing, and building the capacity of acceptance. This technique can support many treatment areas, including anxiety and depression, with the goal of fostering a sense of calmness. In session, we can practice different exercises together to shift our brain’s automatic and overwhelming response to one of calmness and clarity.

Self-Compassion

Self-Compassion is the act of holding space for ourselves the way we would for anyone else – with kindness, gentleness, and acceptance. To be human is to be imperfect, and sometimes we forget that when we talk to ourselves. Self-compassion is a technique aimed at rebuilding this positive connection with ourselves. Self-compassion is an important part of healing as it undoes feelings of shame and guilt.
